Hi, I’m Taarika
I’m Taarika Khanijow, a trauma-informed psychotherapist based in Phuket, Thailand. I work primarily with adults experiencing trauma, anxiety, relational patterns, nervous system dysregulation, and feeling unsafe in the body.
My background in psychology began with a longstanding interest in how people think, feel, cope, and make sense of their experiences. I completed my BA in Psychology at the University of British Columbia, including an academic exchange in the Netherlands, and later earned my MSc in the Theory and Practice of Clinical Psychology from the University of Reading.
My work is centered around EMDR therapy, while also integrating IFS-informed approaches, somatic awareness, psychoeducation, and cognitive frameworks where appropriate. I’m especially interested in helping people understand how their past experiences may still be shaping their present-day patterns, and how the body often holds on to survival responses long after the original danger has passed.
I believe therapy should be structured, compassionate, and honest. My role is to help you make sense of what is happening, work with your nervous system rather than against it, and move toward change at a pace that feels manageable.
